Azerbaijani police officers seized 18 illegally possessed firearms, including assault rifles and grenades, during large-scale operations conducted across the country on March 7 and 8.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that the coordinated raids took place in the capital, Baku, and various other regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan. During the two-day operation, law enforcement officials discovered and confiscated 4 assault rifles, 5 grenades, 4 fuses, 14 shotguns, 3 ammunition magazines, and 91 cartridges of various calibers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that operational and preventive measures aimed at detecting and seizing illegally held weapons and ammunition are ongoing. Such operations are part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to ensure public safety and prevent criminal activities involving unlicensed weaponry. The MIA regularly urges citizens to voluntarily surrender unregistered firearms to avoid legal liability and to contribute to the maintenance of law and order within the country.
