Azerbaijan marks 108th anniversary of national police

On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Police, Interior Minister Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov and the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs visited the Alley of Honor to lay a wreath at the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the memory of prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also honored. The delegation subsequently visited the Alley of Martyrs, paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

A solemn ceremony dedicated to "Police Day" and the graduation of the 2025-2026 academic year was held at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The event honored the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as police officers who became martyrs for the country's territorial integrity or died in the line of duty.

Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov conveyed the congratulations and best wishes of President Ilham Aliyev to the personnel. He highlighted the honorable service path of the police over the past 108 years, emphasizing the significant organizational work and the strengthening of the force with patriotic personnel during the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Minister Eyvazov noted that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed a strong and modern material-technical base. He underscored the implementation of structural reforms, the strengthening of social protection for personnel, and the ongoing efforts to ensure that operational activities are grounded in the principles of citizen satisfaction.

The Minister stressed the importance of objectively investigating citizen complaints, upholding the rule of law, and maintaining ethical standards. He highlighted the police force's success in combating crime, including transnational threats, and ensuring the protection of citizens' rights and freedoms.

Regarding the liberated territories, the Minister emphasized that the activities of police units, including the Internal Troops, have been adapted to the current situation to accelerate the "Great Return." He confirmed that public order and security are being reliably maintained in these regions.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of diplomas to graduates of the Police Academy, who received the rank of lieutenant. Minister Eyvazov reaffirmed the commitment of the internal affairs bodies to serve the Motherland and the people with honor, concluding the event with a ceremonial march of the personnel.
