A proposal has been made in the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) to reduce the duration of master’s degree programs to one year.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Milli Majlis MP Ceyhun Mammadov made the proposal at today’s meeting of the parliamentary Committee on Science and Education. He noted that 4,000 or more places remain vacant in master’s degree admissions in Azerbaijan each year:

“Young people do not want to study for two years because the period is too long. I propose reducing the duration of master’s degree programs to one year.”

Master’s degree programs in Azerbaijan generally follow undergraduate studies and provide advanced academic or professional training in a chosen field. The proposal would require consideration within the country’s higher education policy and admissions framework.
