The opening ceremony of the 10th Azerbaijan Grand Prix, held as part of the Formula 1 championship at the Baku City Circuit, has taken place.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Azerbaijan’s national anthem was performed before the start of the main race.
The anthem was performed by Yusif Eyvazov, Azerbaijan’s People’s Artist and a world-renowned tenor.
After the emotional final notes, attention turned once again to the star drivers. The stage and the competition now belong to them.
The Formula 1 race trophy features a flame motif. The element symbolizes Azerbaijan’s identity as the “Land of Fire.”
The sides of the trophy also feature patterns inspired by Azerbaijan’s carpet-weaving traditions. Thus, the dynamism of Formula 1 has been combined with Azerbaijan’s rich national heritage in the trophy’s design.
The Formula 1 main race is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix is held at the Baku City Circuit, a street track known for combining high-speed sections with tight turns through the capital. The event has become one of the major international sporting competitions hosted in Baku.
