The Ministry of Culture is currently in the project phase of establishing the Azerbaijan Book Award, a major initiative aimed at fostering literary excellence in the country.
Official information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the ministry indicates that work in this direction is ongoing. "After the project is approved in accordance with the relevant procedures, additional information regarding the competition and other details will be provided to the public," the ministry stated.
The head of the Book Industry Department of the Ministry of Culture, Vasif Gurbanzade, previously announced that the Azerbaijan Book Award would be established this year. According to Gurbanzade, the winner of the prestigious award is expected to receive the following benefits:
- A cash prize of 50,000 manats;
- A special diploma and badge;
- Publication of the winning book with a 3,000-copy print run;
- Distribution of the work in two additional countries.
This initiative is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to promote national literature and support local authors on both domestic and international platforms. By providing significant financial incentives and guaranteed publication, the Ministry of Culture aims to elevate the standard of contemporary Azerbaijani literature and increase its global reach. The establishment of such a high-value award reflects the state's commitment to cultural development and the enrichment of the nation's intellectual heritage.
