The mandatory fee for the issuance or renewal of journalist identification cards has been officially abolished in Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this change is reflected in the amendments to the Law "On Media," for which President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree on implementation.
Previously, journalists were required to pay a fee of 20 manats to obtain or replace their official credentials. This legislative adjustment is part of broader efforts to streamline media regulations and support the professional environment for journalists operating within the country.
The Law "On Media," which came into effect in 2022, established a new framework for media activities, including the creation of a Media Registry. The removal of this fee is seen as a measure to facilitate easier access to official accreditation for media professionals, ensuring that administrative costs do not serve as a barrier to professional recognition.
