Atletico Madrid defender Cristian Romero has named his favorite for the Ballon d’Or award.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Fichajes, that the 28-year-old Argentine footballer said the award should go to his compatriot and Argentina teammate Lionel Messi.
“The Ballon d’Or should go to Leo Messi. It should remain that way until he ends his career. There is nobody like him. Perhaps one day, when he says he no longer wants to play, we will consider who the award should go to,” Romero told ESPN.
The Ballon d’Or is presented annually to the best-performing footballer in the world. Messi has won the award a record eight times.
