Part of the filming for "Armour of God 4: Ultimatum," the latest installment in the legendary franchise starring Jackie Chan, will take place in Azerbaijan. The production marks a significant milestone for the country's growing reputation as a destination for international cinema.
Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Variety, reports that production is scheduled to begin in July, with the global premiere slated for the second quarter of 2027. The filming will be conducted across locations in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, making it the first entry in the famous series to be shot in the region.
The film is directed by Robert Kuhn and produced by Esmond Ren and Igor Tsay, with Kazakhstan-based Salem Entertainment handling production. According to the plot, Jackie Chan’s iconic character, the "Asian Hawk," returns to search for an ancient artifact known as the "Tumar," which carries a bounty of over $20 million. Jackie Chan noted that collaborating with partners in the region will open new visual and creative opportunities for the franchise.
The "Armour of God" series debuted in 1986 and has become one of the most popular action franchises in Jackie Chan's career. The previous installment, "CZ12" (also known as Chinese Zodiac), was released in 2012 and earned over $140 million at the global box office. Azerbaijan has recently been increasing its efforts to attract foreign film productions, offering unique architectural backdrops in Baku that blend modern skyscrapers with the historic Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
