Armenian and Iranian defense ministers meet in Tehran

Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan met with Iran's Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, during his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing Armenpress, that the meeting was also attended by Grigor Hakobyan, Armenia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Suren Papikyan stated on his social media account that both sides highly valued the current level of Armenia-Iran defense cooperation. He noted that there is a mutual determination to continue efforts toward developing bilateral relations, and several issues regarding future partnership were discussed. During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on regional and international security matters.

The meeting takes place against the backdrop of evolving regional dynamics in the South Caucasus. Iran has frequently emphasized its interest in maintaining regional stability and its opposition to any geopolitical changes to international borders in the region. This visit follows a series of high-level diplomatic engagements between Yerevan and Tehran aimed at strengthening economic and security ties. Azerbaijan continues to monitor regional military cooperation closely, maintaining its stance on ensuring long-term peace and the security of transport corridors in the South Caucasus.
