Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan met with France’s newly appointed ambassador, Florian Escudier. The meeting focused on opportunities to expand the activities of French-capital companies in the country’s economy.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the Armenian government’s press service released the information.
Grigoryan emphasized the particular importance of the strategic partnership with France and expressed hope that the diplomat’s tenure would contribute to further deepening relations between the two countries.
The sides discussed in detail prospects for intensifying trade and economic ties. During the discussions, they noted the importance of the European Union adopting temporary measures aimed at liberalizing trade.
They also exchanged views on regional processes, the security environment and economic integration.
It should be noted that earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said Moscow regularly raised with Yerevan the need to create the necessary conditions for Russian businesses to operate in Armenia.
Although the Armenian side claimed that there was no threat to Russian investments, Galuzin stressed that these statements “did not fully correspond to reality.”
France and Armenia have developed political and economic ties within a broader framework of European engagement in the South Caucasus. Discussions on trade, investment and regional connectivity are part of efforts by both countries to deepen bilateral cooperation.
