Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis is set to discuss the expansion of energy cooperation and natural gas supplies during his official visit to Azerbaijan. The delegation, which arrived in Baku on April 26, includes representatives from approximately 50 Czech companies seeking to strengthen bilateral economic ties and explore new investment opportunities.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Czech media reports, the primary objective of the visit is to secure a strategic agreement on the supply of Azerbaijani natural gas to the Czech Republic. "Prime Minister Andrej Babis and representatives of 50 Czech companies are on a visit to Azerbaijan. He aims to reach an agreement on the supply of natural gas," the reports stated.

Azerbaijan has increasingly become a pivotal partner for European energy security, particularly through the Southern Gas Corridor. As the European Union seeks to diversify its energy sources, Azerbaijan's role as a reliable supplier of "blue fuel" has expanded to include several nations in Central and Eastern Europe. This visit underscores Prague's commitment to enhancing its energy independence and fostering deeper diplomatic and economic relations with Baku, which serves as a critical bridge between the Caspian region and European markets.
