Good and predictable relations with neighboring countries have become one of the conditions for Azerbaijan’s development as a transit country.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the remarks at an event titled “Restoring trust in a fragmented world: The South Caucasus as a pillar of global connectivity and investment stability,” held in Baku as part of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum under his patronage.
“It was necessary for us to have good relations with our neighbors and our neighbors’ neighbors. Otherwise, as a landlocked country, no matter how hard we tried, it would have been impossible to succeed,” the head of state said.
According to him, Azerbaijan’s relations with all its neighbors are clear today and, more importantly, predictable.
Stable ties with neighboring states are particularly important for landlocked countries seeking to expand transport routes, attract investment and strengthen their role in regional connectivity. Azerbaijan has positioned itself as a link between major markets through transport and logistics projects connecting Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
