President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has addressed participants in the 2nd Meeting of the heads of intellectual property institutions of the Organization of Turkic States.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the message reads:
“Dear participants of the event!
I sincerely welcome you to Baku for the 2nd Meeting of the heads of intellectual property institutions of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
Azerbaijan has always mobilized all its efforts, particularly during its chairmanship of the OTS, to strengthen the organization institutionally, enhance its standing globally and bring together the Turkic world, our one family.
The Turkic world, located at the heart of the historic Silk Road, has throughout the ages been the homeland of great figures, scholars and thinkers. The rich scientific and cultural heritage of our peoples, our substantial human capital and growing innovation potential create opportunities for intellectual property cooperation to develop as a distinct area within the OTS and for closer interaction. In this regard, holding meetings of the heads of relevant institutions is commendable. The first meeting, held in Bishkek last year, was an important step in this field.
The rapid development of artificial intelligence, digitalization and other new solutions is setting new tasks for intellectual property systems. In this process, it is particularly important to make effective use of the opportunities created by technological progress while ensuring an optimal balance between the reliable protection of the rights of authors and inventors, the promotion of innovation and the interests of society.
Azerbaijan is taking consistent measures to strengthen scientific research and the pool of qualified specialists in order to accelerate digital transformation and expand the application of artificial intelligence.
Protecting the shared cultural heritage of Turkic peoples and preventing its appropriation and distortion should be among the leading areas of our joint work. The foundations of intellectual property law in Azerbaijan were laid on the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and further improved in subsequent years.
I am confident that the discussions and initiatives at the Baku meeting will help bring cooperation among intellectual property institutions to a new level and create favorable conditions for comprehensive development, enabling the Turkic world to keep pace in global competition.
I wish the event every success.”
