Emin Hüseynov: Ağdam və Füzuli tamamilə yerlə-yeksan edilib

A total of 13,600 square kilometers of territory has been liberated following 30 years of occupation, according to official statements. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President in Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, made these remarks during an event held as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

"Of this total, 2,700 square kilometers are accounted for by the Fuzuli, Khojavand, and Aghdam districts. These areas are likely the most densely populated regions among the liberated lands," Huseynov added. The Special Representative emphasized that Aghdam and Fuzuli are the largest districts in the Garabagh and East Zangezur regions in terms of population, land area, and economic potential.

"At the same time, they were the most destroyed cities, subjected to complete vandalism. Aghdam and Fuzuli, the largest cities in the region, were razed to the ground as if they had never existed at all," the official stated. The scale of destruction in these areas has led international experts to frequently refer to Aghdam as the "Hiroshima of the Caucasus."

The World Urban Forum (WUF), established by the United Nations, serves as the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. By hosting discussions within the framework of WUF13, Azerbaijan continues to bring international attention to the Great Return program, which focuses on the massive reconstruction and demining efforts currently underway to facilitate the safe return of internally displaced persons to their ancestral homes in the liberated territories.
