A 5.5 magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of the western United States, specifically near the state of Oregon.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed the seismic event. The earthquake was recorded 218 kilometers west of the city of Bandon, Oregon, with its epicenter located at a depth of 10 kilometers.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage resulting from the tremor. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation for any potential aftershocks.

The Pacific Northwest region, including Oregon, is situated along the Cascadia Subduction Zone, a major fault line known for its potential to generate significant seismic activity. While earthquakes of this magnitude are relatively common in offshore areas, the USGS routinely tracks these events to assess any risk to coastal communities and to update regional seismic hazard models.
