A 5.0 magnitude earthquake has struck the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China, according to reports from the China Earthquake Networks Center.

As reported by Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Reuters, the seismic event occurred near the city of Turpan in the eastern part of the region at 14:55 local time (10:55 Baku time).

At present, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or structural damage resulting from the tremor. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation for potential aftershocks.

The Xinjiang region, located in northwestern China, is known for its complex tectonic activity, which frequently results in seismic events. Turpan, situated in a depression, is a historically significant city on the Silk Road and remains a key area for regional monitoring by Chinese seismological agencies.
