Samir Rafiq oglu Nuriyev
Head of the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan
Biography
Samir Rafiq oglu Nuriyev was born in Baku on 9 March 1975. From 1981 to 1991, he attended Secondary School No. 225 in Baku.
From 1996 to 2003, he worked for a number of private companies. In 2000–2001, he was a consultant for the project “Assistance to the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Private Enterprises in Azerbaijan” at the Azerbaijan Country Office of the United Nations Development Programme. From 2006 to 2009, he worked at the Ministry of Economic Development, first as deputy director and director of the Entrepreneurship Development Department, and then as head of the ministry’s Entrepreneurship Development Policy Division.
By presidential decrees, he served as deputy head of the Administration of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” under the Cabinet of Ministers from 2009 to 2013, and as head of that administration from 2013 to 2016. From 2016 to 2018, he headed the State Housing Development Agency, and from 2018 until November 2019, he served as Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture. By a Presidential Order dated 1 November 2019, he was appointed Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He speaks Azerbaijani, Russian, English and Turkish. He is married and has three children.
