Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that Russia had begun an additional mobilization campaign and was increasing the number of recruits, including foreign nationals.
In an evening address, Zelenskyy claimed that Russia was using “various methods to enlist them”. The remarks were reported by the original source.
North Korean troops
Zelenskyy said more than 8,000 North Korean troops were currently on Russian territory and that Moscow planned to deploy an additional contingent of 10,000 soldiers.
“They are being selected for training and subsequent transfer to Russia,” he said, adding that Russia was paying for the assistance, including through technology transfers.
Drone production claims
According to Zelenskyy, production of Shahed-type strike drones had begun in North Korea in exchange for assistance and technical support from Russia.
“This is how evil spreads and how a threat to life in one part of the world extends to other parts of the world. This can only be overcome together,” he said.
Moscow has repeatedly rejected claims that it is preparing another mobilization campaign. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused Ukraine of seeking to “ideologically destabilize” the situation in Russia.
