Azerbaijan's National Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow warning regarding expected windy weather conditions across various regions of the country from May 14 to 16.
According to information provided by the service to the Operative Information Center-OMM, an easterly wind is expected to blow in Gazakh, Agstafa, Tovuz, Shamkir, Ganja, Goranboy, Naftalan, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Goygol, Samux, Mingachevir, Yevlax, Barda, Tartar, Quba, Qusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Neftchala, Salyan, Lerik, Yardimli, Gobustan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, and Zangilan. Wind speeds in these areas are projected to reach between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second, consistent with the yellow alert level.
A yellow warning indicates that the weather is potentially dangerous, advising the public to remain cautious of activities that could be affected by the wind. Such meteorological alerts are part of Azerbaijan's early warning system designed to mitigate risks associated with sudden weather changes, particularly in mountainous and foothill regions where wind gusts can impact infrastructure, agriculture, and transport.
