Yellow alert issued for windy weather in Azerbaijan

The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow alert regarding expected windy weather conditions in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and most regions of Azerbaijan from the afternoon of January 26 until the afternoon of January 27.

The service told Operative Information Center-OMM that in accordance with the yellow alert, a northwest wind is expected to blow in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in Khizi, Shabran, Khachmaz, Guba, Gusar, Siyazan, Neftchala, Gobustan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, Fuzuli, Ganja, Dashkasan, Goranboy, Naftalan, and Mingachevir. The wind speed is forecasted to reach between 13.9 and 20.7 meters per second.

The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors atmospheric conditions across Azerbaijan to provide timely safety warnings. A yellow alert indicates a potential weather risk that is not unusual but requires caution, particularly for outdoor activities and transport. Residents in the affected areas, including the liberated territories of Kalbajar, Lachin, Zangilan, and Fuzuli, are advised to stay informed about changing weather patterns and follow safety protocols issued by relevant state authorities.
