Yardimli officials’ pretrial detention extended until November 30

The Binagili District Court has extended the pretrial detention of Elchin Mirzayev, deputy head of the Department for Analysis and Forecasting of Socio-Economic Development at the Yardimli District Executive Authority, and senior adviser Yashar Eyvazov.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the investigative body filed a motion with the court seeking an extension of the detention measure imposed on the two officials.

The court granted the motion and extended the pretrial detention of both defendants until November 30.

The charges against Elchin Mirzayev and Yashar Eyvazov have also been disclosed. They have been charged under Article 311.3.1 of the Criminal Code, concerning bribery by a group of persons acting in prior collusion or by an organized group.

Pretrial detention is a procedural measure applied during an investigation and does not constitute a final court verdict. The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law.
