Woman arrested for jewelry thefts in Baku

A woman suspected of committing a series of thefts from jewelry stores in the Narimanov, Sabail, and Nasimi districts of Baku has been detained. According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the individual, who has a prior criminal record, is accused of stealing jewelry with a total value of 5,000 manats.

The investigation began following reports of a theft in the Narimanov district, where gold jewelry worth 3,000 manats was stolen from a local store. As a result of operational measures carried out by the police, 29-year-old N. Dadashova was identified and taken into custody. Further inquiries revealed that the suspect was also involved in similar crimes in the Sabail and Nasimi districts, where she allegedly stole gold and silver items valued at an additional 2,000 manats.

Theft caught on camera: Distraction tactics used

The suspect's method of operation was exposed through security camera footage. The recordings show the woman entering the stores posing as a customer and using distraction tactics to divert the sellers' attention before seizing the items. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incidents, and investigations are currently ongoing in Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan continues to enhance security measures and surveillance in commercial areas to prevent such retail crimes. In recent years, the integration of advanced CCTV systems across the capital has significantly aided the MIA in the rapid identification and apprehension of individuals involved in property crimes, ensuring public safety and the protection of business interests in Baku.
