On March 11, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin made a phone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

During the conversation, Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to the head of state for the prompt assistance provided in the evacuation of Russian citizens from the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Russian President also thanked Azerbaijan for creating the necessary conditions for the transit of Russian humanitarian aid destined for Iran through Azerbaijani territory.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Kremlin released a statement confirming that the leaders emphasized the urgent need for a cessation of military operations in the Middle East. Both President Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin underscored the importance of resolving the ongoing regional conflict through political and diplomatic means.

The heads of state further discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda. They reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia across various sectors, in accordance with the principles of strategic partnership and alliance. This high-level communication highlights the growing role of Azerbaijan as a vital transit and logistics hub in Eurasia, facilitating both humanitarian efforts and regional stability. The strategic partnership between Baku and Moscow continues to encompass energy, transport, and security cooperation, reflecting the deep-rooted diplomatic ties between the two neighboring nations.
