The US Department of State has authorized the voluntary departure of non-emergency government employees and their family members from Saudi Arabia due to heightened security threats.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the announcement was published on the official website of the US diplomatic mission. The decision reflects growing concerns over the safety of American personnel stationed in the region.

"The Department of State has authorized the departure of non-emergency US government employees and family members of United States government employees from Saudi Arabia due to security threats," the official statement reads. It is noted that amid rising regional tensions, the threat of drone and missile strikes originating from Iran remains a significant concern for those in Saudi Arabia.

This move comes at a time of increased geopolitical volatility across the Middle East. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, the United States has maintained a policy of maximum vigilance regarding regional security and the protection of its overseas assets. Saudi Arabia, a key strategic partner for both the US and Azerbaijan, has frequently been targeted by regional proxy forces, leading to periodic adjustments in diplomatic staffing levels to ensure the safety of personnel.
