Unstable weather conditions with intermittent rain are expected to prevail in several regions of Azerbaijan from May 5 to May 7, according to the latest meteorological forecasts.
The National Hydrometeorological Service informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that precipitation is expected to intensify in various parts of the country, including the Nakhchivan AR, Gazakh-Ganja, Garabagh, East Zangazur, Balakan-Sheki, Quba-Qusar, Mountainous Shirvan, and Central Aran regions. Forecasters warn of lightning, hail, and a high probability of snowfall in mountainous areas, with the most intense weather activity predicted for May 5-6.
The service also cautioned that water levels in rivers are likely to rise, creating a significant risk of short-term floods and flash floods in certain mountain streams. Such weather patterns are typical for the spring season in Azerbaijan, where the transition of air masses often leads to localized hydrological events. Authorities advise residents and travelers in the affected regions to remain vigilant and exercise caution near riverbeds and steep terrain during the warning period.
