Two Pakistani nationals were killed and another was injured on Friday in firing near the international frontier between Pakistan and India, Radio Pakistan reported.
Citing security sources, the state-owned broadcaster said the three residents of Kasur district in Punjab province had moved a few steps beyond a border pillar when personnel from India’s Border Security Force opened fire without warning.
The sources said none of the three had tried to cross the border fence and that all were unarmed. There was no immediate confirmation or comment from either side.
Indian media described the incident as an attempted infiltration that had been foiled.
