Two drivers operating vehicles under the influence of narcotics have been identified and detained during control measures conducted by traffic police officers in the Khachmaz district of Azerbaijan.
According to information provided by the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Hikmat Asadov and Nijat Gafarov were pulled over as suspects and subsequently underwent a medical examination. The results of the tests confirmed that both drivers were under the influence of drugs while behind the wheel.
By court decision, an administrative arrest measure has been implemented against H. Asadov and N. Gafarov. It was further noted that since the beginning of the current year, preventive measures carried out by police officers have led to the discovery of a total of 19 drivers operating vehicles under the influence of narcotics within the Khachmaz district.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to intensify its efforts to ensure road safety and combat drug abuse across the country. Driving under the influence of controlled substances is a serious violation of the Republic's traffic laws and carries stringent legal penalties, including the suspension of driving privileges and administrative or criminal detention. These operations are part of a broader national strategy to reduce traffic accidents and enhance public security on Azerbaijan's highways.
