Two detained for vehicle thefts in Baku's Sabunchu district

Two individuals have been detained in Baku for committing a series of thefts from vehicles in the Sabunchu district. The incident occurred on April 28 in the Bakikhanov settlement, where valuable items were stolen from a KIA brand car belonging to a local resident.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM, the suspects were apprehended by officers of the 13th Police Station of the Sabunchu District Police Department. The individuals were identified as 37-year-old Mahir Mammadov and 28-year-old Elvin Mehtiyev. Mammadov, who had a prior criminal record, was already on the wanted list for other offenses. Surveillance footage captured the suspects in the act, and further investigations revealed they had also stolen a wallet containing 270 AZN, bank cards, and documents from another KIA vehicle. Additionally, police seized methamphetamine, a psychotropic substance, from the suspects for personal use.
