Twelve people lost their lives in road accidents involving motorcycles across Azerbaijan over the past year.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Main State Traffic Police Department released these statistics regarding road safety in the country.

According to official data, 43 road accidents resulting in death or injury were recorded in 2025 due to the fault of motorcycle and moped drivers. In addition to the fatalities, 36 individuals sustained various degrees of physical injuries during these incidents. The department noted that statistical indicators demonstrate that accidents involving two-wheeled motor vehicles are frequently accompanied by severe consequences.

Investigations revealed that the primary causes of such accidents include failure to comply with traffic rules, speeding, dangerous maneuvers, improper following distances, and incorrect assessment of road and transport conditions. The Main State Traffic Police Department emphasized that because motorcycles and mopeds lack physical protective structures, any error can lead to serious injury or death. The department has urged all riders in Azerbaijan to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and prioritize safety on the roads.

Road safety remains a priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, which regularly conducts awareness campaigns to reduce traffic-related fatalities. As the use of light motor vehicles for delivery services and personal transport increases in Baku and other major cities, authorities continue to strengthen monitoring and enforcement of safety gear requirements, such as helmets and protective equipment, to mitigate the risks associated with high-speed urban traffic.
