The head of Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), Ibrahim Kalin, met with Libya’s acting defense minister, Abdussalam Zubi, in Istanbul, security sources said Sunday.
The meeting took place on Saturday as negotiations aimed at unifying Libya’s military and political institutions gained momentum, according to the sources.
Officials discuss Libya’s stability
Kalin and Zubi discussed developments in Libya and the wider region, measures to maintain cooperation between Türkiye and Libya, and ongoing efforts to achieve political and military unity in Libya.
The officials also addressed steps to preserve stability in the North African country. Zubi praised Türkiye’s efforts to promote unity in Libya.
Kalin said Türkiye remained determined to continue contributing to and supporting Libya’s security and stability.
Recent talks with Libyan officials
On Sept. 10, Kalin met in Ankara with Aguila Saleh, speaker of Libya’s House of Representatives, and Mohammed Takala, head of the High Council of State.
