Türkiye is acting as a key mediator between Washington and Tehran to mitigate rising tensions in the Middle East. This was confirmed by Harun Armagan, the Deputy Chairman for Foreign Affairs of Türkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing The Times of Israel, that Ankara is actively involved in conveying messages between Iran and the United States. According to Armagan, Türkiye's primary objective is to encourage direct dialogue and prevent further military escalation in the region.

While Armagan did not disclose the specific details of the communications, he noted that these diplomatic efforts also extend to Gulf nations that are increasingly concerned about the potential for a broader regional conflict. Under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, Washington has maintained a complex diplomatic landscape in the Middle East, where Türkiye often positions itself as a strategic bridge between Western interests and regional powers.

Türkiye has historically played a significant role in regional diplomacy due to its unique geographical position and its membership in NATO. By maintaining open channels of communication with both Tehran and Washington, Ankara seeks to stabilize the energy-rich region and protect its own borders from the spillover effects of neighboring conflicts. This mediation effort comes at a critical time as international actors intensify calls for de-escalation across the Middle East.
