Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said his country supports transforming the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) into a full-fledged international organization.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Fidan, speaking at CICA’s 7th Summit in Baku, said growing crises around the world were increasing uncertainty at international forums.
“Finding joint solutions to our common challenges is more important than ever. The greatest obstacle to the much-needed multilateral action is the lack of trust among international actors. We consider it a priority to foster a culture of dialogue that strengthens mutual trust by improving cooperation based on the principles of regional responsibility and initiative. CICA can play an important role in turning dialogue into effective cooperation,” he said.
CICA was established in 1992 as a forum for dialogue and cooperation on peace, security and stability in Asia. Its member states have discussed elevating the forum’s status to that of an international organization.
