The Embassy of Turkey in Azerbaijan has issued a statement marking the fifth anniversary of the Shusha Declaration, a landmark document signed between the two nations.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the announcement was made via the embassy's official account on the social media platform X.

"Our exceptional fraternal and strategic partnership relations with Azerbaijan entered a new and historic phase five years ago today with the Shusha Declaration, signed by our esteemed President and President Ilham Aliyev. Based on the goals and shared vision for the future defined by the Shusha Declaration, we will resolutely continue to strengthen and develop our cooperation with brotherly Azerbaijan in all fields," the statement read.

The Shusha Declaration, signed on June 15, 2021, in the liberated city of Shusha, serves as the cornerstone of modern Turkish-Azerbaijani relations. It elevated the bilateral ties to the level of a formal alliance, covering cooperation in political, economic, energy, and defense sectors. The document is widely regarded as a historic milestone that solidified the "one nation, two states" principle, ensuring long-term stability and security in the South Caucasus region.
