Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisoghomonyan addressed the participation of Turkish and Azerbaijani delegations in the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17), which is due to be held in Yerevan. The diplomat said official Yerevan had not yet received any information on whether either country would attend the summit.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Abisoghomonyan said the participation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres in the summit had been confirmed. The Armenian official said it was too early to disclose a list of specific countries, in line with UN diplomatic protocol and established practice, as states announce their own decisions on participation and delegation composition.

Abisoghomonyan recommended waiting for official confirmation regarding the participation of other international partners and country representatives.

According to forecasts, around 15,000 delegates are expected to attend the COP17 summit in Yerevan, while more than 50 high-ranking officials from various countries have already registered.

The 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) will be held from October 19 to 30, 2026. The event’s main preparatory phase and the “Green Zone” exhibition will open on October 18.
