The Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable line, a key component of the "Digital Silk Way" project connecting Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, is scheduled to be commissioned in the coming months. This infrastructure project aims to establish a high-speed digital telecommunications corridor between Europe and Asia via the Caspian Sea.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks during his speech at the informal Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Turkistan, Kazakhstan. The head of state emphasized that cooperation with Turkic states in the field of digital development is progressing successfully, with the "Digital Silk Way" serving as a cornerstone of this regional integration.

The Trans-Caspian Fiber-Optic Cable project is part of a broader strategy to transform Azerbaijan into a regional digital hub. By laying fiber-optic cables along the bottom of the Caspian Sea, the initiative will provide a shorter, high-capacity alternative to existing terrestrial routes for data traffic between East Asia and Western Europe. This project not only strengthens the connectivity among OTS member states but also enhances the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, integrating digital infrastructure with existing transport and energy networks in the region.
