According to the National Hydrometeorology Service, rainy and windy weather is expected in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in several regions of Azerbaijan on August 31. Forecasters predict intense, heavy rainfall in some areas, accompanied by lightning and potential hail.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Main State Traffic Police Department has urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, citing the potential hazards heavy rainfall poses to road safety.
Authorities emphasize that intensive precipitation reduces visibility, makes road surfaces slippery, causes water accumulation, and increases the risk of vehicle loss of control. Drivers are advised to adjust their speed according to weather and road conditions, increase following distances, and avoid sudden maneuvers or harsh braking.
Furthermore, given that strong winds may create additional driving challenges, operators of vehicles with trailers, canvas covers, or oversized loads are urged to exercise heightened caution and ensure that all cargo is securely fastened.
Pedestrians are also advised to be mindful of limited visibility during heavy rain and to cross roads only at designated areas after ensuring it is safe to do so. The Main State Traffic Police Department calls on all road users to properly assess weather conditions and exercise maximum caution and responsibility on the roads.
