Heavy traffic congestion is currently being observed across several major roads and arteries in Baku, affecting the morning commute for thousands of residents.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to official data released by the Intellectual Transport Management Center (ITMC), significant delays are occurring on the following routes:
- Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
- 8 November Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street toward the city center;
- 1st Gol Kenari road, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
- Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station toward the city center;
- Ali Mustafayev Street, in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
- Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadliq Avenue;
- 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street.
Traffic management in Azerbaijan's capital has become a priority as the city continues to grow as a regional economic and transit hub. The Intellectual Transport Management Center utilizes a network of cameras and sensors to monitor real-time flow and optimize signal timing to alleviate bottlenecks during peak hours. Commuters are advised to take these delays into account and utilize alternative routes where possible to ensure timely arrival at their destinations.
