Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on eight major roads and avenues in the capital of Azerbaijan. According to the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC), the traffic flow has been significantly hindered on several key arterial routes leading toward the city center and major intersections.

The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing official data, reports that the current situation on the roads is as follows:

  • 1. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, auxiliary road, in the direction of the center;
  • 2. 8 November Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street toward the center;
  • 3. Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
  • 4. 1st Gol Kenari road, toward Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • 5. Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
  • 6. Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station toward the center;
  • 7. Ali Mustafayev Street, toward Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • 8. Abdulvahab Salamzade Street, toward Ziya Bunyadov Avenue.

Traffic congestion in Baku typically intensifies during peak hours as a result of the high volume of vehicles entering the capital from surrounding residential areas and Sumgait. The Intelligent Transport Management Center continuously monitors these primary thoroughfares to optimize traffic light synchronization and coordinate with relevant authorities to alleviate bottlenecks. Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes to avoid significant delays on these main highways.
