Heavy traffic congestion has been observed on several major streets and avenues in Baku, impacting the movement of vehicles across the capital.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Digital Development and Transport Agency's Intellectual Transport Management Center (ITMC) released a statement regarding the current road conditions. The center noted that the morning rush hour has led to significant delays on primary arterial roads connecting various parts of the city.

Based on the center's data, traffic flow is currently difficult in the following directions:

  • Baku–Sumgait highway – in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
  • Binagadi highway – in the direction of the "Azadliq Prospekti" metro station;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue – from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street toward the "20 January" metro station;
  • Tbilisi Avenue – from the "20 January" metro station toward the city center;
  • Abdulvahab Salamzade Street – in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Yusif Safarov Street – toward the city center;
  • Heydar Aliyev Avenue – along the main road toward the city center;
  • 1st Gol Kenari road – in the direction of Ziya Bunyadov Avenue.

The ITMC advises drivers to utilize alternative routes where possible, strictly adhere to traffic regulations, and consider real-time road conditions to avoid prolonged delays. Traffic congestion in Baku often peaks during morning and evening hours due to the high density of vehicles entering the capital from suburban areas and neighboring cities like Sumgait.

Efforts to manage urban mobility in Azerbaijan's capital include the integration of intelligent transport systems and the expansion of public transport networks. Such measures aim to reduce the environmental impact of idling vehicles and improve the overall efficiency of the city's infrastructure as Baku continues to grow as a regional economic hub.
