Three arrested for cultivating narcotic plants in Lankaran

Authorities in Lankaran have discovered 116 cannabis plants cultivated in the region.

According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Lankaran regional group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) press service, local police officers have detained three individuals suspected of illegal cultivation of narcotic plants. The suspects have been identified as Mirxas Abbasov, Elmeddin Mammadov, and Shamil Kalbiyev.

During the operation, law enforcement officials seized 116 narcotic plants that were being cultivated with specialized agrotechnical care. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and by court decision, all three individuals have been remanded in custody as a preventive measure.

The cultivation of illegal narcotic substances is a serious criminal offense under the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Internal Affairs regularly conducts operations across the country to combat drug trafficking and illegal cultivation, aiming to curb the distribution of illicit substances and ensure public safety in accordance with national laws.
