Thirty Palestinians have been killed in attacks by Israeli settlers across the occupied West Bank since the start of 2026, according to figures released by the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission on Friday.
The commission said the toll stood at 30 as of October 2, exceeding the annual total recorded in any year since 2022. With the year still under way, the figure is already around 114% higher than the total for all of 2025.
Deaths concentrated in two governorates
Fifteen people were killed in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate and seven in Nablus, together accounting for about 73% of the total, the commission said.
Three Palestinians were killed in Hebron, two each in Jerusalem and Salfit, and one in Qalqilya. The commission described the figures as “a dangerous escalation in the deadly consequences of attacks by settlers.”
Attacks and demolitions reported in September
The commission said Israeli forces and settlers carried out 2,051 attacks against Palestinians, their land and property across the West Bank in September. Settlers were responsible for 647 of those attacks, in which three Palestinians were killed.
From the beginning of 2026 through the end of September, settlers carried out 5,561 attacks, according to the commission. The attacks damaged 14,600 trees in September, including 9,334 olive trees.
Israeli authorities demolished 254 Palestinian structures during the month, including 89 inhabited homes. The demolitions directly affected 320 people, among them 164 children and 64 women.
Settlement plans and land seizures
The commission said settlers attempted to establish 21 new outposts across the West Bank in September. Israeli authorities also advanced 16 plans to build 3,821 settlement units during the month.
Authorities seized about 6,635 dunams (1,640 acres) of Palestinian land from the start of 2026, the commission said.
Official Palestinian figures estimate that about 750,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, in 194 settlements and 400 outposts, all described by the commission as illegal.
In June, 14 UN special rapporteurs warned that a sharp rise in what they called “settler terrorism,” with support and complicity from the Israeli state in the occupied Palestinian territory, posed an existential threat to Palestinian communities.
