Yellow and orange weather warnings have been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula and several regions of Azerbaijan due to strong winds expected on September 25.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the National Hydrometeorological Service issued the warning.
In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in Neftchala, Salyan, Hajigabul, Mingachevir, Naftalan, Goranboy and Dashkasan, northwesterly winds are expected under the orange warning. Wind speeds will increase to 20.8-28.4 meters per second.
Under the yellow warning, northwesterly winds are expected in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Kalbajar, Lachin, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Gobustan, Bilasuvar, Lankaran, Masalli, Jalilabad, Astara, Lerik, Yardimli, Aghstafa, Gazakh, Tovuz, Shamkir, Ganja, Samukh, Goygol, Gadabay, Saatli, Sabirabad, Imishli, Shirvan, Yevlakh, Tartar, Aghdam and Barda. Wind speeds will reach 13.9-20.7 meters per second.
Weather warning systems in Azerbaijan use color-coded alerts to indicate the potential severity of meteorological conditions. Residents are advised to exercise caution during strong winds, particularly near trees, construction sites and unsecured structures.
