Chair of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, will attend the funeral ceremony of the former Emir of Qatar, the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this announcement was made by the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Ali Ahmadov, during today's session of the legislative body's extraordinary session.
He noted that Gafarova is currently in Qatar for this purpose.
The late Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, who led the State of Qatar for 18 years, passed away on July 12 at the age of 74. The visit underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between Baku and Doha, as both nations continue to strengthen bilateral ties across political, economic, and cultural spheres. Such high-level representation at state funeral ceremonies is a standard diplomatic practice reflecting the mutual respect and cooperation between the two countries.
