The Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, has visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Saint Petersburg as part of her working visit to the Russian Federation.
The Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told Operative Information Center-OMM that the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation paid tribute to the founder of the modern, independent Azerbaijani state, National Leader Heydar Aliyev, by laying flowers at his bust erected in the administrative building of the Consulate General.
During a conversation with the consulate staff, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova presented the consulate with books dedicated to the life and political activities of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Following the meeting, the Consulate General hosted an official reception dedicated to May 28 – Independence Day of Azerbaijan.
The event highlighted the historical significance of Independence Day in Azerbaijan's statehood, the country's path of development, and the achievements gained under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The reception continued with a concert program featuring performances by renowned Azerbaijani art figures.
