Sedrak Kocharyan, the son of former Armenian president Robert Kocharyan, has been sentenced to two months of pre-trial detention.

According to information provided by the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing News.am, the development was confirmed to journalists by defense attorney Alexander Kochubayev.

The lawyer stated that Sedrak Kocharyan's visitation rights have been strictly limited, with permission granted only for meetings with his wife and children. The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing legal scrutiny surrounding the Kocharyan family in Armenia.

Robert Kocharyan served as the second president of Armenia from 1998 to 2008. His political legacy remains a subject of intense debate and legal proceedings within the country, often reflecting the deep political polarization that has characterized Armenian domestic affairs for years. The detention of his son is viewed by observers as a continuation of the complex legal and political challenges that have surrounded the former president's inner circle since he left office.
