On July 14, an official welcoming ceremony was held in Shusha for the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini. The event marked a significant moment in the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the square, adorned with the national flags of both countries, featured a guard of honor lined up in honor of the Slovak President.

President Ilham Aliyev welcomed President Peter Pellegrini. The commander of the guard of honor reported to the Slovak President. Following the report, the national anthems of the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan were played. The guard of honor marched past President Ilham Aliyev and President Peter Pellegrini to the sounds of a military march. Members of the Azerbaijani delegation were introduced to President Peter Pellegrini, while members of the Slovak delegation were introduced to President Ilham Aliyev. The heads of state then posed for an official photograph.

Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, has increasingly become a focal point for high-level international diplomacy and cultural events since its liberation in 2020. The city's restoration and its role as a venue for official state visits underscore Azerbaijan's commitment to integrating the Garabagh region into the country's broader political and economic landscape. Diplomatic visits to Shusha serve to highlight the region's historical significance and the ongoing reconstruction efforts led by the Azerbaijani government.
