The Speaker of the National Council of Slovakia, Richard Raši, is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan's Garabagh region as part of his official itinerary in the country.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the speaker shared details of his upcoming visit during a reception hosted by President Ilham Aliyev on May 13. During the meeting, the sides discussed the strengthening of bilateral ties between Bratislava and Baku, emphasizing parliamentary cooperation as a cornerstone of diplomatic relations.

As part of the visit, Richard Raši will personally inspect the extensive restoration and reconstruction work currently being carried out by the Azerbaijani government in the liberated territories. A key highlight of his trip will be a visit to Khankendi to observe the operations and educational facilities of the newly established Garabagh University. The Slovak official noted that he previously visited Shusha in 2022, expressing his interest in the rapid development of the region.

Slovakia and Azerbaijan have maintained a steady diplomatic partnership, particularly in the fields of energy security and trade. This visit underscores the growing interest of European nations in the post-conflict rehabilitation of the Garabagh region. Since the restoration of its territorial integrity, Azerbaijan has invited numerous international delegations to witness the large-scale "Great Return" program, which aims to modernize infrastructure and facilitate the resettlement of former internally displaced persons in the liberated areas.
