Unsettled and rainy weather conditions are expected to prevail in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula from February 4 to 6, according to the latest weather forecast.

The National Hydrometeorological Service told Operative Information Center-OMM that precipitation is likely to turn into sleet in some areas of the capital throughout February 4 and during the night of February 5. In the regions of Azerbaijan, intermittent precipitation is expected from the evening of February 3 until the morning of February 5. Forecasters warn of snow in various locations, with precipitation becoming particularly intense in certain districts.

The temperature across Azerbaijan is projected to drop gradually by 5 to 10 degrees Celsius compared to previous days. Due to the freezing conditions, roads in mountainous and foothill areas are expected to become icy between February 4 and 6. The National Hydrometeorological Service advises residents and drivers to exercise caution, especially on high-altitude roads where visibility may be limited and surfaces may be slippery.

Such sharp climatic changes are characteristic of the winter season in the South Caucasus, where cold air masses from the north frequently lead to rapid temperature fluctuations. The National Hydrometeorological Service regularly monitors these atmospheric processes to provide timely alerts for the public and relevant state agencies, ensuring safety and preparedness for winter weather hazards.
