Seven Azerbaijani boxers advance at U-15 European Championship

Seven Azerbaijani boxers advanced on the third day of the U-15 European Boxing Championships in Trabzon, Türkiye.

Veyisila Aliyeva (54kg) beat Scotland’s Mairid McGeoch 4-0 (29-27, 30-26, 29-27, 28-28, 29-27) in the round of 16. She will face Ukraine’s Alina Inatovich in the quarterfinals. Huseyn Rahimli (40kg) defeated Croatia’s Matija Jankovic by a clear margin in the first round. His next opponent will be England’s Felix Rooney.

Humbat Almazov (42kg) beat Serbia’s Petar Radivojevic 5-0 (30-26, 30-26, 30-26, 30-26, 30-27). He will face Germany’s Kevin Lourenco de Castro in the quarterfinals. Gulay Ojagova (57kg) advanced to the semifinals after defeating Italy’s Giulia Giustizieri 4-1 (28-29, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28) in the quarterfinals. Her opponent in the bout for a place in the final will be Hungary’s Lia Toldi.

Rafael Abbasov (66kg) secured a semifinal berth with a 3-2 victory over Poland’s Jan Bala (27-30, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 27-30). He will meet Georgia’s Zakaria Tsiklauri in the semifinals.

Serkhan Hakhverdiyev (70kg) beat Poland’s Oliver Maya 3-2 (30-27, 29-28, 28-29, 28-29, 30-27). His next opponent will be Italy’s Diego Mastrorillo. Teymur Tanriverdiyev (90kg) defeated Türkiye’s Berat Yildirim 5-0 (30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28). He will face Russia’s Andrey Konstantinov in the semifinals.

The European Championships will conclude on October 25.
