The second competition day of the “Mingachevir Regatta-2026” international tournament in Fuzuli will begin today.
Azerbaijani representatives won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals on the tournament’s opening day.
In the 200-meter individual kayak event for athletes born in 2008 and 2009, Alimurad Haji-zade won gold, while Nuran Rahimli took silver.
Huseyn Samadli finished third in the 200-meter individual canoe event for the same age group, while Elmir Tarverdiyev secured third place in the 200-meter individual kayak event for athletes born in 2010 and 2011.
The competition will continue today and tomorrow in all events and distances at the “Kur” Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir.
More than 100 young rowers from Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Ukraine and Uzbekistan are taking part in the competition. Regattas bring together athletes in kayak and canoe disciplines across various distances, providing young competitors with international racing experience.
